The Roebucks, a four-piece alt-country and Americana band from Brighton, play Billy Bootleggers with support from The Pointing Dogs and Dan Ottewell.
The Roebucks play Billy Bootleggers on Thursday 5 November, with The Pointing Dogs and Dan Ottewell supporting. It's a blues and rock night in the city centre, and the Roebucks are the main draw.
They're a four-piece from Brighton, and they describe their sound as an idiosyncratic take on alt-country and Americana. It's a wide stretch of ground to cover, and they let it show: the songs range from woozy and tender to earthy and bluesy, so the set should pull in both ends of that. They've been around since 2022, and they say the addition of drummer and vocalist Sophie Moloney in early 2024 took their songwriting and live performances to a new level, bringing lush three-part harmonies and Duane Allman-esque riffs to the mix.
They've played festivals like Black Deer and Mutations, and have supported The Heavy Heavy and Langkamer. In October 2024 they signed to Goo Records, and they're due to release their first single with the label in early 2025. This date comes well after that, so they'll be playing with the new material already out in the world.
