New staging of Simon Stephens' adaptation of Mark Haddon's novel, a detective mystery that becomes a coming-of-age story about family secrets.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is at the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall this week, running from Tuesday 13 to Saturday 17 October. It's a brand-new staging of Simon Stephens' adaptation of Mark Haddon's novel, which sold 10 million copies and later became a National Theatre production. If you've read the book, you'll know the story: Christopher Boone has a brilliant mind for numbers but struggles with the unpredictability of people and everyday life. When a neighbour's dog is found killed, he decides to investigate, becoming both detective and suspect in a mystery that grows darker and more complex. Along the way, he uncovers family secrets that challenge everything he knows about trust and independence.
It's a detective story and a coming-of-age journey in one, and The Guardian called it 'an incredible rollercoaster of a tale'. The production is directed by Ned Bennett, with Alex Keenan playing Christopher. Joe McFadden takes the role of his father, Ed, and Charlie Brooks plays his mother, Judy, with Bridgette Amofah as the teacher Siobhan. Eleanor Bull designed the set.
