Tenx9

Tenx9 comes to Broadway Cinema on Tuesday 26 January, from 7pm to 9pm. The format is simple: nine storytellers, each sharing a true story from their own life, with ten minutes apiece. The theme for this one is 'Show & Tell'.

Tenx9 started in Belfast back in 2011, set up by Paul Doran and Pádraig ÓTuama as a night for ordinary people to tell true stories about their own lives. They're clear about what that means: no fiction, no fable, just stories with a start, a middle and an end. The kind of tales that leave you wondering what happened next, or thinking that one character sounds exactly like your own Auntie Myrtle. The Nottingham edition follows that same lead, and they're putting out an open call for anyone who wants to step up and tell their own true story on the 'Show & Tell' theme. They make a point of welcoming the shy, the hesitant and the reluctant, so you don't have to be a seasoned performer to get involved.

If you've got a story that fits, you'll need to get it in by 16 January, when submissions close. From there, nine people will be chosen to take the stage on the night. The whole thing runs from 7pm to 9pm at Broadway Cinema, 14-18 Broad Street, Nottingham NG1 3AL, and entry is free.
