Punk night headlined by Superfriends, supported by Fern Veh and Lou Strong, at JT Soar.
Superfriends play JT Soar on Wednesday 28 October, with Giant Deer putting on the night. They're a punk act whose big, bright songs sit somewhere between Jeff Rosenstock and The Mountain Goats, and the songs they write turn on friendship, identity and having a great time with your pals.
They aren't the only ones on the bill. Support comes from Fern Veh, a collaborative indie project led by Ada Gilfoyle that draws on bedroom pop, post-rock and early 2000s indie rock. Gilfoyle lists Broken Social Scene, Carissa's Weird, TWIABP, Foxing and Sufjan Stevens as influences, so the sound pulls from a few different places at once. Alongside them is Lou Strong, the stripped-back folk-punk project of Cheap Dirty Horse's Eloise, who describes her work as rowdy queer trash folk-punk with a direct focus on personal storytelling. Between the three, the night runs from the big punk songs of the headliners through to Gilfoyle's indie-leaning project and Strong's folk-punk.
