Album release gig by Consecutive Wins, a mix of jazz, post-rock and noise pop, with support from VIKASATI at JT Soar.
Consecutive Wins are playing JT Soar on Friday 13 November, an album release show that brings together five people who started as a bit of a chance encounter. The band is Ben Nobuto, Colin O'Brien-Lux, Jack Benjamin, Jamie Sykes and Martin Pearce. They came together when all five wanted to join Phil of JT Soar for one of his music-making outings at an abandoned mill in Wales, and they did. They showed up with no ideas, and what came out was a series of songs that captured exactly what they were feeling in that moment. The band describes their sound as a mix of jazz, post-rock and noise pop.
Opening the night is VIKASATI, an elusive East Midlands duo who perform semi-improvised jazz and broken beats. Between the two acts, you've got a good stretch of the city's more experimental side on one bill: the improvised, beat-driven work of VIKASATI followed by the jazz-inflected post-rock of Consecutive Wins. The whole thing is all ages, and it's BYOB with free PA, so you can bring your own drinks and hang out without paying for a bar tab.
