Half-term workshop for children aged 7 to 12 to meet the Waterstones Shakespeare scholar and bring the witches of Macbeth to life through drama games.
Waterstones in the city centre is hosting Spooky Shakespeare for Kids on Thursday 22 October, a workshop that falls right in the middle of the October half-term. It's aimed at children aged 7 to 12, and the whole thing is run by the Waterstones Shakespeare scholar, so it's a proper introduction to the Bard rather than just a read-through.
The session opens with the witches from Macbeth, and they're the focus of the hour: the kids bring them to life through spell-casting and drama games, so it's more about doing and playing than sitting and listening. It's a hands-on way to get a first taste of Shakespeare, and because it's built around games, it works even if the kids have never come across his writing before. The whole thing runs for 60 to 90 minutes, so it's a single afternoon session rather than a long-haul commitment.

One of the better bits is that parents and carers can come along for free, so you can stay and watch while they get stuck in. It's at Waterstones, 1-5 Bridlesmith Gate, NG1 2GR, starting at 2 PM on Thursday 22 October, and tickets are £5.
