Free guided walk led by Dr Linda around the War Memorial Gardens to spot spiders and learn about them, suitable for all ages.
Secret Life of Spiders is a guided walk through the Nottingham War Memorial Gardens on Wednesday 21 October, from 1 pm to 3 pm. It's run by Nottingham City Council's Parks and Open Spaces, and it's an easy arachnid amble around the memorial, suitable for all ages.
Dr Linda leads the way, taking the group around the gardens to spot spiders out and about and learn about them. She spends a good bit of the walk playing with the spooky reputation they've got, turning it on its head. She points out that they're excellent parents, older than dinosaurs, and even possess a sense of rhythm. And that big hairy thing scuttling across your carpet? According to her, that's usually just an out-of-breath bachelor on the lookout for love.

It's a slow-paced session, so it works for kids and adults alike. The meeting point is the Memorial Garden at the entrance by the Memorial Garden Carpark, with the walk itself winding through the gardens. It runs from 1 pm to 3 pm, two hours in total, and it's free to attend, though it's currently listed as sold out.
