Stand-up show by Seann Walsh, billed as the UK's 'dishevelled king of stand-up', as part of the Nottingham Comedy Festival.
Seann Walsh is playing Nottingham Arts Theatre on Thursday 5 November, as part of the Nottingham Comedy Festival. It's a brand-new hour of stand-up called This Is Torture, a title he says comes from the phrase he uses more than any other in his life.
If you've seen him before, you'll know the thing he's built his name on: that high-energy exasperation and the razor-sharp observations that come with it. He's often described as the UK's 'dishevelled king of stand-up', and that's a fair shorthand for the way he works. This is a new hour, so it's fresh material rather than a best-of, and it follows his sell-out tour back in 2023.
There's plenty of praise behind him to go on if you're not yet familiar. The Guardian called him 'unquestionably the best observational comic of his generation', The Telegraph described the show as 'a cracking good show', and the Evening Standard named him 'one of comedy's hottest properties'. It's that observational streak that runs through his work — taking the small, everyday things and stretching them until they're absurd.
