Free guided tour of a Victorian show-home that has been retrofitted with insulation, underfloor heating, solar panels and a heat pump.
The Community Retrofit House is opening its doors on Tuesday 3 November for a guided look at what a full home retrofit actually looks like. It's a Victorian terrace in The Meadows that's been completely overhauled, and rather than just hearing about it, you get to walk through it.
Inside, you'll see high-performance insulation, underfloor heating, solar panels, double glazing and a heat pump all working together to pull up the energy efficiency, comfort and performance of the house. It's a Nottingham Energy Partnership show-home, so it's a real local property that's gone through the process, not a purpose-built demo. The whole thing is run by the Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT) Hub with the East Midlands Combined County Authority, as part of the EMCCA Festival of Retrofit — a programme of events across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire that's about bringing retrofit to life.
The idea is to show homeowners what a completed retrofit looks like in practice and how they might approach improvements to their own place. Each session lasts an hour and includes an introduction to the measures used, a guided walkthrough of the house, and time for questions. If you've been thinking about upgrading your own home but aren't sure where to start, this is a good way to see the different elements working in one go.

There are three one-hour sessions on the day: 10:00, 11:00 and 12:00. It's free, though you'll need to register for a space. The house is at Community Retrofit House, 42 Pyatt Street, The Meadows, Nottingham NG2 2LF.
