Free pumpkin carving session led by Windmill Community Gardens, with tips on making pumpkin pancakes from the leftovers, during Green Libraries Week.
Windmill Community Gardens are running a pumpkin carving session at Hyson Green Library on Monday 26 October, from 2pm to 3.30pm. A skilled carver will be there to lead the way, showing you how to shape your own pumpkin and how to turn the leftovers into pumpkin pancakes, so nothing goes to waste. All the tools are provided and are safe for children, who need to be supervised by an adult at all times.
It's part of Green Libraries Week, which runs from 21 to 28 October across Nottingham City Libraries, and it follows the garden's own seasonal 'Pumpkin Day' on Sunday 25 October, which features foraging, games, light shows and fancy dress. If you're around that weekend, you could do both.
Windmill Community Gardens is a community garden that helps local people grow crops together in an eco-friendly way. They're a Garden of Sanctuary, LGBTQ+ friendly and supportive of people on the autistic spectrum, and they run weekly sessions on growing, wellness, craft and cooking, plus a cook-and-eat session and a woodwork session on Thursdays. The garden operates on a donation-based system so that people on low incomes can take part.
