Open mic night hosted by Bill Sage with music and poetry from Vivien Ivy, Flöat and Cae Capurro, with a craft stall and all proceeds to People For Palestine.
The Grove is hosting an open mic night on Sunday 18 October, with doors opening at 17:00. It's called Open Mic For Majd, and the name tells you exactly why it's happening: every penny raised goes to a People For Palestine crowd-funder, working to medically evacuate the mother of Majd, a friend of the Nottingham community, from Gaza.
Bill Sage is hosting the night, and the bill already has a few names on it: Vivien Ivy, Flöat and Cae Capurro. But it's an open mic, so the stage isn't just for them. Anyone who wants to share their own music or poetry is invited to take a turn alongside the featured artists. If you've got something you've been working on, this is a good place to get it in front of people.
There's more going on than just the music, too. A craft stall of handmade items runs alongside the room, so you can browse and pick something up between sets. Between the open mic and the stall, it's a full evening rather than just a few songs.
