Free autumn seed social of the Notts Seed Network to clean and pack seeds for future swaps, learn about seed saving and meet local growers, with a light agroecological lunch.
Notts Seed Network are holding their autumn gathering at Bulwell Forest Garden on Saturday 31 October, from 1pm to 3pm. It's a seed social, which is exactly what it sounds like: people getting together to clean and pack seeds for future swaps, learning how to save them, and chatting with local growers and seed savers. There's also seed available to take away, so you can leave with something for your own patch.
The network itself supports growing, saving and sharing open-pollinated seeds across Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire. It was established in 2026, growing out of the former Nottingham Seed Sovereignty project, and is a member of the Seed Sovereignty Programme's Northern Seed Network. This gathering is their autumn social, and the whole thing is made possible thanks to National Lottery players and the TNL Community Fund.
They've got a light lunch provided, made with agroecological ingredients, and drinks too. You're welcome to bring something to share if you fancy it, so it's as much about the food and the company as it is about the seeds. If you're new to seed saving, it's a good place to pick up some advice from people who've been doing it for years.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Nottingham and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

Bulwell Forest Garden is a community garden and green space on Austin Street, NG6 9HE, tucked behind Cantrell Primary School. It's a proper bit of green: vegetable beds, fruit orchards, wildflower meadows, a sensory and medicinal garden, a polytunnel, willow structures, native hedgerows, a wildlife pond and community woodland. The gathering runs from 1pm to 3pm, and it's free.
