Original Dating are hosting a bowling and pizza speed dating night for ages 30-45 at Discobowl Nottingham on Wednesday 11 November. It's a bit of a departure from the usual dating app routine: instead of swiping, you get four minutes face to face with a series of singles, and the organisers reckon that reveals more chemistry than a week of messaging.
Around 15 to 20 singles gather for the evening. The women stay seated while the men move around the room, and everyone keeps track of their impressions on a 'Passion Passport' as they go. Halfway through there's a break for a pizza buffet, and once the dating is done, the whole group bowls together. The night is professionally hosted, and the organisers describe the atmosphere as warm and sociable.
The matching happens afterwards through a private online system. You mark each person you met as Yes, No or Friend, and by 5pm the next day the service works out the matches and opens up private messaging. The one nice touch is that nobody ever sees a No.

Doors open at 7:00pm, the speed dating starts at 7:30pm and finishes around 9:30pm, and the venue closes at 10:00pm. Tickets are £35, which includes both the pizza and the bowling. Discobowl Nottingham is on Belward Street, NG1 1JZ.
