Film festival across five venues with short films, documentaries, animation, experimental and feature films, plus a VR strand and the first Robin Hood Film Award.
The Nottingham Film Festival returns from Tuesday 24 November to Saturday 28 November, and this time it's spread across five venues instead of one. Nottingham Central Library is one of them, so you can catch screenings right in the city centre. The festival has been running in various forms for about a decade, and for the last three years director Joseph Archer has shaped it as an environmentally conscious and inclusive space. This edition expands the reach, with local filmmakers Naps and Jen joining the team and the programme encouraging audiences to move across the city to see different films.
The line-up covers a lot of ground: short films, documentaries, animation, experimental work and feature films. There's a dedicated evening for filmmakers from the Midlands and Nottingham, and awards that recognise films raising awareness of mental health and environmental issues, including the first-ever 'Robin Hood Film Award'. There's also a VR strand supported by the University of Nottingham's Virtual and Immersive Production Studio and Create Growth N2, and by Near Now, Broadway's studio for arts, design and innovation.

Keeping the carbon footprint low is part of the festival's ethos, so they only pick venues reachable by public transport and keep social media and physical materials to a minimum. It's a good way to see a range of cinema without having to travel far. Tickets are £5, and the whole thing runs from Tuesday 24 November to Saturday 28 November across five venues, with Nottingham Central Library as one of the spots.
