Self-guided audio walking tour through Nottingham's sandstone 'City of Caves', with 12 stops on the city's history and scandals.
Nottingham Audio Tour: An Immersive Journey runs at Nottingham's City Of Caves on Sunday 8 November, with tickets starting from £4.99. It's a self-guided walk, so there's no fixed start time and no in-person guide to follow—you just set off when you're ready.
The tour is delivered by AudaTours through their free app, which you download once and then use offline. It takes you beneath the city's busy streets and into the City Of Caves, the network of sandstone tunnels and cellars that run under Nottingham. Along the way, the audio weaves in the area's history and its scandals, passing timber-framed merchant houses, shadowy tunnels and the solemn domes of the old Court House, with the whole journey framed around Nottingham's rebel spirit.
There are 12 stops in total, including the National Justice Museum, St Mary's Church, the Lace Market, the Corn Exchange, Nottingham Castle and Old Market Square. The route covers around 2.9 km (1.8 miles) and takes about an hour and ten minutes at your own pace, so you can linger where you like. It's a walk through the city rather than a building tour, so there's no entry into the sites themselves—you'll be seeing them from the street.
