Annual conference of the Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre with expert plenaries, investigator talks, a poster session and networking.
NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre is holding its annual conference at the East Midlands Conference Centre on Monday 16 November 2026, from 9 am to 5 pm. It's a full day of biomedical research on display, and registration is free.
The BRC itself is a partnership between Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Nottingham, supported by NHS and academic partners across the city and the East Midlands. Much of its work focuses on common conditions that affect millions of people — asthma, depression and arthritis are three of them — and it's tied into the NHS 'Fit for the Future: 10 Year Health Plan for England'. The conference is the annual showcase for that work, bringing together researchers, healthcare professionals, scientists, early career researchers, patient and public representatives and industry partners to see the latest research and its real-world impact.
Across the day, the programme mixes expert plenaries with talks from local investigators and early career researchers, a poster session and networking opportunities. It's a broad cross-section of the city's medical research community in one room, from the senior leads to the people just starting out. The venue is the East Midlands Conference Centre, a purpose-built space on the University of Nottingham's University Park campus with a capacity of up to 1,000.
