Live concert by Italian doom rock band Messa with The Night Eternal at The Rescue Rooms.
Messa play The Rescue Rooms on Thursday 5 November, with The Night Eternal supporting them. It's a mid-week one, so you'll be heading into the city on a Thursday evening rather than a weekend.
For those who haven't come across them, Messa emerged from the Italian Doom Rock underground in 2014. Since then, they've been gathering a frenzied following, held in thrall by a sound they describe as monumental and broad-ranging. That's a fair way to put it: the 'monumental' side points to the heavy, slow-burning weight of doom, while 'broad-ranging' suggests there's more to the set than just crushing riffs. It's the kind of band that can shift from something massive and oppressive to something quite different within the same show.
They're sharing the bill with The Night Eternal, so there are two acts on the night. Between the two, you've got a full evening of music rather than just a single set. If you're into the heavier, slower end of rock, it's a good pairing.
