Cancer Bats (MARSHALL MADE OF LOUD TOUR)

Cancer Bats play Rescue Rooms on Friday 30 October, part of their MARSHALL MADE OF LOUD TOUR. They're not alone on the bill: Ignite and Knives are both on the night, so it's a full run of three bands rather than a single headliner.

If you're not familiar with them, Cancer Bats are from Toronto and have been around since 2006, when they put out Birthing the Giant. They spent their early years touring Canada as a Black Sabbath cover band under the name Bat Sabbath, and they've been open about the records that shaped them: Black Flag, Down, Led Zeppelin, Entombed and Black Sabbath. That mix of hardcore and heavy metal is pretty much their whole thing. They really started to pick up speed in the early 2010s, when Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones earned them a Juno Award nomination in 2011, followed by another for Dead Set on Living in 2013.

The venue is Rescue Rooms on Goldsmith Street, which The Guardian once called one of the jewels in the city's crown, praising its forward-leaning booking and consistently pleasant atmosphere. It's a live music venue, club, bar and patio all in one, with two secluded outdoor areas. The night is for over-14s only.

Doors open at 18:30, and the show is expected to finish around 22:00. Tickets are £25 face value, or £28.13 including the booking fee.
