Non-profit singles social for people aged 30 and over, with a MeetIRL host leading icebreakers and conversation at All Bar One.
MeetIRL are hosting a singles social for the over-30s at All Bar One in Nottingham on Friday 6 November, starting at 19:30. It's a night for single people in their thirties and beyond to meet up in person, rather than through a screen.
If you've spent any time on the apps, you'll know the drill: the endless swiping, the messages that go nowhere, and the first dates that feel more like interviews than actual conversations. MeetIRL is a non-profit organisation set up to cut through that. Their mission is to bring people together in real life and strip away the transactional, expensive, or complicated side of meeting new people. They describe themselves as being built around community, offering welcoming, affordable, and enjoyable spaces rather than the commercial feel of traditional dating platforms or paid singles events.
On the night, a MeetIRL host runs the evening. They're there to welcome guests as they arrive, break the ice, and introduce people to one another throughout the night. Instead of the awkwardness of speed dating or forced pairings, they use relaxed icebreakers to get conversations moving naturally. The whole thing runs for about two hours, and you're welcome to stay on afterwards at the venue's discretion.

Their stated aim is 'less swiping, more meeting' — more people, more conversations, and more real-life connections. The social is open to anyone aged 18 and over who is currently single, and it's held at All Bar One Nottingham, Weekday Cross, Nottingham NG1 2GB. It kicks off at 19:30 on Friday 6 November, and there are no refunds.
