Work-in-progress sketch comedy hour by the award-winning duo Low Effort Sketches, recommended for ages 16 and over.
Low Effort Sketches are at the Cock and Hoop on Saturday 31 October, bringing a work-in-progress sketch hour to High Pavement. The duo behind it is Alice Wickersham and Andy Bucks, and the show is billed as a full hour of sketch comedy. Because it's a work-in-progress, you're seeing material while it's still being shaped, rather than a finished run.
They've built a bit of a name for themselves along the way. Chortle described their work as fourth-wall breaking sketch with 'a fantastic sense of surreal mischief', The Tab called it 'a masterclass in sketch comedy', and The Reviews Hub went with 'beautifully crafted'. That surreal, fourth-wall-breaking streak is a good way to get a sense of where they're coming from: it's the kind of comedy that likes to acknowledge it's a show while it's happening, and doesn't always play by the usual rules of a sketch.
It's a multi-award-winning duo, so there's a fair bit of track record behind the new material. The show is recommended for ages 16 and over, and it's part of the Nottingham Comedy Festival line-up, which puts it alongside a good few other comedy nights across the city that weekend.
