Magic show by Kevin Quantum, a Penn & Teller protégé, that blends science and magic with impossible illusions and levitations.
Kevin Quantum brings his show Anti-Gravity to the Djanogly Theatre at Lakeside Arts on Friday 23 October, starting at 7pm. It's a magic show, but Quantum doesn't fit into the usual magician mould. He's a member of The Magic Circle and describes himself as a magician-scientist adventurer, and that's where the show sits: right at the point where science and magic meet. He specialises in impossible illusions and levitations, so the title Anti-Gravity tells you exactly what to expect.
There's a bit of a story to how he got here. He was tutored by Penn & Teller, and he says he's spent half his adult life studying physics and the other half studying magic, reaching the 10,000 hours needed to be an expert in both. That dual track is what he brings to the stage, blending the two rather than keeping them separate.
He's played sell-out shows around the world, and his work has reached beyond the stage: he's appeared in BBC documentaries, consulted for the National Theatre of Scotland, and taught Eddie Izzard magic for a film role. He also holds a Guinness World Record for the largest magic lesson. He was the first magician to perform at the Globe Theatre in London, picked up two Scottish comedy award nominations, and won Best Magic at the Adelaide Fringe in 2018.

The show runs an hour and 50 minutes including an interval, and it's suitable for ages 8 and over, so it works as a family night out as much as a proper evening of magic. Tickets are £18 to £22, with a multibuy scheme that can take 5% to 20% off if you're booking for a group.
