Stand-up show 'Love Child' by Kemah Bob, directed by Alison Spittle, at The Canalhouse.
Kemah Bob brings her show Love Child to The Canalhouse on Wednesday 17 March. It's her second hour, and she describes it as intimate yet rowdy, personal yet electric, and high-energy. The Skinny called it "chest-achingly funny" and DIVA Magazine described it as "captivating".
The material works through her experiences as a woman with her father's lips, a chaotic childhood with questionable parenting, the science of epigenetic baggage, and the pressure to be a "Good Grown Up". It's a personal set that pulls from family history and the things we inherit, and she's the one on stage telling the stories.
Bob is an acclaimed stand-up who's been picking up momentum for a few years now. In 2024, she was an ISH Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer nominee and landed on The Guardian's list of the 10 Best Comedy Shows of that year. You might also recognise her from QI, Richard Osman's House of Games, Jonathan Ross' Comedy Club, Comedy Central Live, Don't Hate The Playaz, and Guessable, or from the Off Menu podcast. Love Child is directed by Alison Spittle, and the night is presented by Berk's Nest in association with Sophie Chapman Talent.
