Stand-up comedy show by Katie Mitchell, presented by Club Wormhole, within the Nottingham Comedy Festival.
Katie Mitchell brings Giddy to Fisher Gate Point on Saturday 7 November, her return to character comedy with an hour she describes as her silliest and yet most autobiographical show to date. It draws on her own life growing up as an orphan on a council estate, but reframes those memories around a fictional setting: the Los Angeles suburb of Ilkeston, Derbyshire, a place of monsters, darkness and sport. There she plays the self-styled 'World's Greatest Sportsman'.
It's a character piece that pulls from her own history, so it's as much about where she comes from as it is about the character she's building. Mitchell was named Best in Class 2023, and Giddy is the latest hour to come out of that work.
The show is presented by Club Wormhole as part of Wormhole Weekend at the Nottingham Comedy Festival, a weekend billed as a gathering of some of the country's best alternative comedy, performed and attended by some of the loveliest folks in the business. It's a pay-what-you-want on the door, with wheelchair access too. The age recommendation is 14+.
