Stand-up show by Jonny Brook, who turns his experience of disability and the medical world into comedy, at Cosy Club.
Jonny Brook brings his stand-up show This Isn't The Life I Expected to Cosy Club on Sunday 1 November, as part of the Nottingham Comedy Festival.
It's a show built around Brook's experience of disability, and he doesn't hold back on the details. He describes himself as a 'mad old bag of disabled', joking that he started off normal but has since become 'hugely disabled'. The comedy comes from the absurdities of his interactions with the medical world, and he spends a good deal of the set on his inability to deal with GPs, nurses, specialists and surgeons.
It's not just the doctors, though. The act pulls in the everyday people he crosses paths with, from taxi drivers to semi-naked pensioners and tattoo readers. The common thread is the friction of those encounters, and Brook leans into the comedy of not quite fitting in, whether he's in a consulting room or out on the street.
