Multi-room drum and bass showcase marking 30 years of Hospital Records, with a Critical Sound room hosted by Jakes.
Square One takes over Stealth and Rescue Rooms on Friday 4 December, a multi-room drum and bass night that runs from 22:00 until 05:00 on Saturday morning. It's part of the Hospital30 celebrations, marking 30 years of Hospital Records, one of the world's leading drum and bass labels, and is billed as the label's first showcase in Nottingham.
The night teams up with the Critical Sound family, whose sound ranges from high-energy drum and bass and 4x4 to the deep, dark end of underground sonics. The organisers describe it as one of the biggest multi-room drum and bass line-ups the city has seen in years, and the bill reflects that. IVY, Fred V, Hoax, Jayfor, Lolly, Simula, SMG, Jakes B2B Spectral, and DDAM all play across the two rooms, with the Critical Sound room hosted by Jakes.
Having two rooms means you can move between the different styles throughout the night. The Hospital Records side brings the label's signature sound, while the Critical Sound room leans into the heavier, more underground end of the spectrum. With a line-up this size, you're not tied to one room; you can drift between the two and pick your spot as the night evolves.
