Annual informal day of the Haemophilia Society for people with bleeding disorders, with workshops, sessions for families and young people, and lunch included.
The Haemophilia Society is bringing its annual conference, the Big Get-Together, to Crowne Plaza Nottingham by IHG on Saturday 21 November. It's a day for anyone living with an inherited or acquired bleeding disorder — haemophilia, von Willebrand disorder, Glanzmann thrombasthenia, and other rare genetic or acquired bleeding disorders. The Society pitches it as a friendly, informal day rather than a formal conference: a chance to meet others, share experiences, and find out about developments in treatment and care.
There's a fair bit of variety on the bill. The Society runs dedicated sessions for very rare disorders alongside workshops for people with VWD and haemophilia, and families are welcome throughout. This year's programme adds a family session on how to talk to health professionals and clubs about a child's condition, sessions with athletes and physiotherapists, and a Creators Lab to help young people develop their storytelling and social media skills. There's also the unveiling of a new travel project to support young people with a bleeding disorder to gain independence and meet others across Europe.
