Free social off-road cycling ride for women on a 43km autumn gravel loop around Nottingham, with a coffee stop at Cafe Blue.
Grit Grrrls are back on the trails this Sunday 25 October, with a social ride starting from the Attenborough Nature Reserve Visitors Centre. It's one of their regular off-road outings, and the whole thing is built around a supportive, inclusive community rather than a race. They describe it as a 'party pace, no-drop' day, which means no one gets left behind, so you can ride your own speed without worrying about the group pulling away.
The route is an autumn loop of about 43km, and it's not all smooth going. You'll be on gravel trails, bridleways, woodland tracks and quiet country lanes, so it's best if you're comfortable with bumpy and potentially muddy ground. From Attenborough, the ride heads out towards Sawley Marina, Kegworth, Thrumpton and Clifton Woods before looping back to where you started. There's a coffee and cake stop at Cafe Blue in the Canalside Heritage Centre along the way, which gives you a chance to stretch your legs and catch up with the rest of the group.
In terms of kit, gravel or mountain bikes are recommended. The ride is part of the Grit Grrrls Cycling Collective's series of social off-road outings, and it's open to women. Entry is free, so you only need to think about your transport and your bike.
