A stage for creatives aged 18-30 within the Hockley Hustle multi-venue festival, with a wristband sold at Broadway Cinema.
Future Hustlers runs at Mssng Pieces inside Broadway Cinema on Sunday 25 October, from 14:30 to 20:00. It's a session of dance and music, and it sits inside the wider day of Hockley Hustle, the multi-venue festival that takes over the Hockley area of Nottingham.
Future Hustlers is a new strand of Young Hustlers, which is Nottingham's music and arts festival now in its sixth edition. The idea is that it opens up a group of creatives aged 18-30 and lets them programme their own stage. So this particular session is put together by the younger end of the local creative scene rather than the festival organisers themselves.
That wider day, Hockley Hustle — known around here as 'The Hustle' — has run every year since 2006 and has always worked as a charity: every wristband acts as a donation, and it's raised more than £200,000 for Nottingham charities including Emmanuel House, IMPACD CIC, Al-Hurraya and Young Carers Notts. A single wristband, which you collect at Broadway Cinema, gives you access to around fifty venues across Hockley — bars, pubs, cinemas and chapels — with every set played on one timeline and hundreds of local acts across rock, jazz and samba, plus poetry, bingo and performance art. Future Hustlers is just one part of that, so if you're in the area for the afternoon, you can drift from this session into whatever else is happening nearby.
