Live jazz session by Finn Carter at Peggy's Skylight, the independent jazz club and kitchen in Nottingham's Hockley.
Finn Carter plays Peggy's Skylight on Saturday 31 October, with the set running from 18:45 to 20:00. It's a jazz session with Carter as the main feature, so the music takes centre stage rather than a full night's bill.
If you haven't spent much time there, Peggy's is an independent jazz club, bar and kitchen in the heart of Nottingham's Creative Quarter. It was founded by jazz musicians Rachel Foster and Paul Deats, who perform together as 'Me & Mr Jones', and the whole place is built around their own playing. The interiors follow a specific journey: the front is a 1930s tea room that opens out into a Middle Eastern-styled auditorium. That's the room where the music happens, and it's the one Jamie Cullum has named one of the classiest jazz venues in the UK.
The kitchen works the same way, with dishes drawing on Lebanon, North Africa and Cyprus, inspired by the chef's childhood in Iran. There's house bread made with bio-diverse Lincolnshire wheat milled by wind power, and halloumi from an independent Syrian family business. It's worth keeping in mind that the restaurant opens only to concert ticket holders, so if you want to eat, you'll need to book a table alongside your seat.
