Feral Fairytales - Rufftek x Ithax

Rufftek and Ithax are taking over Fisher Gate Point on Saturday 24 October, under the Feral Fairytales banner. It's a double-room night, which is the key to how this one works: rather than one DJ following another on a single stage, the two of them will be playing in separate rooms at the same time. You can drift between them as you please, so you're not locked into one sound for the whole night.

The two rooms are built around contrasting styles. Rufftek takes one side with heavy kicks and gabber stomps—the harder, faster end of the spectrum. Ithax handles the other, focusing on amen breaks and breakbeats. If you're into the heavier stuff, you can stick with Rufftek; if you prefer the breakbeat side of things, Ithax has you covered. And if you can't decide, you can spend the night switching between them.

Feral Fairytales frames the whole thing as a clash of sonic worlds set deep within an enchanted woodland, where a battle awakens and two realms collide. It's a bit of a theatrical setup for a dance night, but it fits the two-room format: the 'battle' is just the two sounds running side by side. For anyone who follows electronic music, it's a good way to hear two distinct production styles in one venue without having to choose between them.

It runs from 22:00 to 03:00, so it's a late one that goes well into the early hours. Tickets are £6 to £33, and the venue is Fisher Gate Point, 1 Fisher Gate, Nottingham NG1 1GD.
