Family carol concert with the Nottingham Harmonic Choir and Thoresby Colliery Band, with children up to Year 6 invited to sing on stage.
The Nottingham Harmonic Choir are back at the Royal Concert Hall on Saturday 19 December for their Family Carol Concert, joined once again by the Thoresby Colliery Band. It's a well-loved fixture in the city's Christmas calendar, and this year it keeps the same format: the choir and the brass band lead the audience in carols, so you'll be singing along with hundreds of other people rather than just watching from your seat.
The programme mixes traditional carols with more popular seasonal music. Among the carols, you'll hear the waltz Schneewalzer and Let It Go from Frozen, and the choir and band lead the room through the rest. It's a family-friendly afternoon, and the younger ones get more than just a seat: children up to Year 6 are invited down to the stage to sing, and some may even get the chance to conduct the band or the choir. The organisers describe it as an afternoon aimed at adding sparkle to the festive season.
On the practical side, the concert is for ages 3 and up, and under-14s need to be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over. Booking is essential, so it's worth sorting your tickets early. Tickets range from £15 to £29, with Stalls PL5 at £15, Tier 2 PL5 at £23, Stalls PL4 at £21, Tier 1 PL3 at £23, Tier 1 PL1 at £29, and Stalls PL2 at £25.50. There are discounts too: over-60s save £2, under-16s and students save 50%, and groups of 10 or more save £2 per ticket.
