Folk singer-songwriter Emily Ashberry plays The Grove in Sneinton Market with support from Alfie Norma and Lydia Page.
Emily Ashberry plays The Grove on Friday 23 October, with Alfie Norma and Lydia Page opening the night. It's a folk bill in the Sneinton Market area, and Ashberry is the main draw.
She's a folk singer-songwriter who recently put out her debut album, Ocean Big & Wide, through Folkroom Records. The record is a collection of songs that looks at the relationship between English and American folk music, and Ashberry describes it as having begun as a love letter to her grandparents and their journey between the UK and the American South. She draws on her British and Appalachian heritage to find the connections running across the two continents, so the set should lean into that transatlantic thread.
It's not just her on the bill, either. Alfie Norma and Lydia Page are both on the line-up, so there's a full evening of folk rather than just one set. If you're not already familiar with Ashberry's work, Ocean Big & Wide is the place to start before the night.
