Family party to celebrate the release of 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Fight or Flight' with snacks, games and drawing activities.
Waterstones in the city centre is hosting a Diary of a Wimpy Kid Party on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 October, to mark the release of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Fight or Flight. It's a couple of days of sessions rather than a single event, so you've got a bit of choice on when to bring the kids along.
The new book, Fight or Flight, finds Greg Heffley facing his biggest challenge yet after becoming a target for the school bully, while his best friend Rowley Jefferson takes up karate. The party is built around that, with snacks, games and themed activities for the children to get stuck into. One of the main things on the go is a drawing session where they'll learn how to draw Greg Heffley themselves, so if your lot enjoy sketching, that'll be the bit they want to hang onto.
There's a guest appearance by Greg Heffley himself — the character, not the author — so he'll be there to meet the crowd. Jeff Kinney won't be appearing, but Greg will be around for the sessions. Each ticket comes with food and drink for the child, which is handy if you're heading in for the morning or afternoon slots.

There are four slots in total across the two days: 10:30am and 2pm on Tuesday 20 October, and 10:30am and 2pm on Wednesday 21 October. Each session lasts about 90 minutes. Tickets are £8 for one child, or £7 each if you're bringing more than one, and parents and carers go in for free. There's also a £13 option that gets you a ticket and a copy of the new book included, so you've got the book sorted at the same time. You'll find it at Waterstones, 1-5 Bridlesmith Gate, Nottingham NG1 2GR.
