Stand-up and variety show by blind comedian David Eagle, mixing stand-up, folk singing, accordion and gospel music.
David Eagle is back on stage at The Canalhouse on Monday 2 November, with his show Winging It. He's a blind stand-up comedian and variety performer who's taken his act to television and won Best Variety Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival, along with two awards at the Edinburgh Fringe, where he was nominated for Best Show and picked up several five-star reviews. He also fronts his own stand-up series on BBC Radio 4.
The show is a one-hour piece that leans further into his blindness, mixing stand-up with folk singing, an accordion and gospel music. The stories that run through it include an odd altercation in an American airport, an encounter with a nun and a run-in with racists in Kent. It also draws on weird childhood recordings found on old cassettes, a poem written from the perspective of a piece of discarded chewing gum and a song about a misunderstood pigeon.
