Three-hour barista fundamentals course run by 200 Degrees' head baristas, covering coffee from bean to cup, with hands-on practice and a certificate.
200 Degrees are running a coffee fundamentals course for two at their Nottingham shop on Monday 26 October. It's a three-hour session led by their head baristas, and it's built for budding coffee enthusiasts and anyone who's never used an espresso machine before.
The class follows the journey from bean to cup, so you'll cover the history, the science and the practical side of things. You'll learn how coffee is grown and roasted, how the extraction process works, and what 'dialling in' actually means. There's plenty of hands-on practice too: you'll get to dial in a grinder yourself and work on steaming milk. By the end, you'll be able to tell a latte, a cappuccino and a flat white apart, and you'll know how to pour for each one.
It's a course for two, so it works as a shared thing to do with a friend or partner. You'll walk away with a few extras as well: a 10% voucher for use in 200 Degrees shops, a free 250g bag of coffee or a pack of coffee pods, and a certificate to show you've done it. The minimum age is 16, and under-18s need to be accompanied by an adult.
