Weekly comedy night of new material at The Canalhouse, where established comedians share the stage with up-and-coming talent.
Canalhouse Comedy Night is back at The Canalhouse on Wednesday 9 December, one of its regular slots in Nottingham. It's a new act and new material night, which means the bill mixes established names with up-and-coming talent, and the comedians are often working through new bits rather than their polished sets. The two types of act share the same stage, so you'll see a pro testing out a new routine alongside a newcomer finding their feet.
It's a night with a fair bit of history behind it. It's picked up Best Small Club at the Midlands Comedy Awards three times — 2016, 2018, and 2021 — and took home Best East Midlands Open Mic Night back in 2015. Reviewers have called it one of the finest supporters of emerging comedy talent in Nottingham, and some have gone as far as to say it beats many of the headline comedians and established venues you'd pay much more for.

If you're planning to go, there's a few things to keep in mind. There's no reserved seating, so if you want a particular spot, you'll need to get there early and grab it yourself. The night runs on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month, so if you miss this one, there are others around it: 14 and 28 October, and 4 and 25 November, before this date on 9 December. Doors open at 7pm and the comedy kicks off at 7.30pm. Tickets are £2.20, which includes the booking fee, and the venue is The Canalhouse, 48-52 Canal Street, Nottingham, NG1 7EH.
