Award-nominated comedy and harp show about family history, folklore and traditional Irish music, presented by Club Wormhole.
Caitriona Dowden brings her show Sesh Head to Fisher Gate Point on Sunday 8 November, as part of Wormhole Weekend, presented by Club Wormhole. Dowden is both a comedian and a harpist, and the two roles run side by side throughout the hour: she plays the harp as much as she stands up and tells stories.
The show is built around traditional Irish music, and it takes you into that world by weaving together family history, folklore, and the ways music connects us with our heritage. The stories range from medieval banquets to 21st-century pub sessions, with run-ins with Morris dancers mixed in. It's an award-nominated show, and it's recommended for ages 14 and over.
Dowden has been picking up nominations for a few years now. Sesh Head was a Leicester Comedy Festival Best New Show nominee in 2026, and before that she was a Chortle Best Newcomer nominee in 2025. She won the Chortle Student Comedy Award in 2022. Critics have called her 'irresistibly idiosyncratic' and 'blissfully esoteric... a special talent', and described her comedy as going 'where no laughs have ever been got before'.
