Interactive spoken-word comedy cabaret where the audience chooses the vibe of the performance.
Ben Macpherson brings Ben Macpherson Does Poems at Adults to Fisher Gate Point on Sunday 8 November, starting at 17:00. It's a spoken-word comedy cabaret that Macpherson has spent a couple of years developing at the Edinburgh Fringe and touring, and it's built around the audience calling the shots.
The format is straightforward: thirty numbers hang on the wall, each with two different vibes, and the room yells out what it wants to see — silly, sad, or even sexy. The set changes depending on what the crowd leans into, so the vibe of the night is something you help decide as it goes along.
Macpherson is a familiar face on Nottingham's comedy circuit, with regular spots at Club Wormhole and Apple of Discord. He draws on a background in sketch comedy and his work as a poet, citing the Two Ronnies, Roald Dahl and Spike Milligan as influences. Beyond the comedy, he's an immersive-theatre practitioner with Chronic Insanity and is currently developing Fat Gut, a show about plus-size male bodies in queer spaces.
