Waterstones night with Philippa Gregory celebrating her new novel 'Royal Witch', exploring power, superstition and women in history.
Philippa Gregory is coming to Broadway Cinema on Wednesday 21 October, starting at 6:30 PM. The evening is built around her new novel, Royal Witch, which brings the court of Henry V to life and follows the story of Eleanor Cobham, England's first and only convicted royal witch. Gregory is both a historian and a novelist, and she's made a name for herself by focusing on the women history tried to forget, blending archival fact with storytelling to shed light on figures that traditional accounts usually overlook. This session goes beyond a simple reading, so expect her to talk through the themes of power, superstition, and the roles women played in the past.
It's a good chance to see how she works. She's written millions of copies worldwide, and her books have been adapted for stage, television, and film. In 2021, she was awarded a CBE for services to literature and charity. She also writes non-fiction, with the social history Normal Women coming out in 2023, and her novel Boleyn Traitor took home Fiction Book of the Year at the British Book Awards in 2026. The night is presented by Waterstones, and it's already sold out.
