Author Jasper Fforde talks about his new book Dark Reading Matter, followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.
Jasper Fforde is coming to Waterstones in Nottingham on Tuesday 20 October, starting at 18:30. It's an evening built around his new book, Dark Reading Matter, which is the eighth and final instalment in the Thursday Next series. The night follows a straightforward pattern: Fforde talking about the new release, followed by a Q&A with the audience and a book signing.
If you're not familiar with the series, Dark Reading Matter sees Thursday Next pitted against the Goliath Corporation and a visitor named Roger Thatt. It's the end of a long run that started with The Eyre Affair in 2001, which landed Fforde on the New York Times bestseller list and set the tone for the books that followed.
Fforde has written fifteen novels since then, including the number one Sunday Times bestseller One of Our Thursdays Is Missing, The Constant Rabbit, and The Last Dragonslayer series, which Sky adapted for television. Before he turned to writing, he spent twenty years in the film business, and he now lives and works in his adopted nation of Wales. This visit marks the release of the final Thursday Next book, so it's the series coming to a close.
