Fiery Angel's production of Agatha Christie's country-house mystery with Hercule Poirot, starring Peter Polycarpou and directed by Lucy Bailey.
Agatha Christie's The Hollow runs at the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall from Tuesday 26 January to Saturday 30 January 2027, in the Main Auditorium. It's a Hercule Poirot mystery on tour, produced by Fiery Angel in association with Agatha Christie Limited and the Marlowe Theatre Canterbury.
On the surface, The Hollow is a classic country-house mystery, but it's more of a family portrait than a straightforward whodunnit. It follows a family clinging to a fading world, built on failed relationships and illicit love, all brought to a violent climax by Poirot. Christie's own daughter, Rosalind, described it as a family caught between nostalgia and the unsettling pull of the future.
Peter Polycarpou, an Olivier nominee, takes the lead as Hercule Poirot. He's joined by Luke Allen-Gale, who plays both John Cristow and Inspector Colquhoun, and Victoria Blunt as Henrietta Angkatell. Kemi-Bo Jacobs plays Veronica Craye, while Paula Hines and Tilly Steele share the role of Gerda Cristow. The production is directed by Lucy Bailey, from a version by Tamsin Oglesby, staged by Joanna Parker with lighting by Chris Davey.

This reunites Fiery Angel with Bailey, who also staged the London hit Witness for the Prosecution and the sell-out tours of Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. It's a good time to remember where this all comes from: Christie was born in Torquay in 1890 and became the best-selling novelist of all time, writing more than 25 plays, including The Mousetrap—the world's longest-running play—and creating both Poirot and Miss Marple.
Tickets are £23.00 to £47.50. There are plenty of options to fit around your week: Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30pm; Thursday with a 2:00pm matinee and a 7:30pm evening show; Friday at 7:30pm; and Saturday with a 2:30pm matinee and a 7:30pm evening show.
