Zervas & Pepper: This Flight Tonight - The Songs of Joni Mitchell

Zervas & Pepper play Epic Studios on Thursday 29 October, with the show starting at 7:00 PM. It's not a standard set of their own songs; they're touring This Flight Tonight - The Songs of Joni Mitchell, a show devoted entirely to one of Woodstock's finest artists. They play Mitchell's album Blue in its entirety, and then add her best songs from 1968 to 1976 on top of that. If you've never heard Blue from start to finish, this is a good way to do it.

Zervas & Pepper are the Welsh songwriting duo of Paul Zervas and Kathryn Pepper, from Cardiff. Their sound is rooted in the California Laurel Canyon style—think open tunings, soaring harmonies and psychedelic leanings. They've put out several albums over the years, including Lifebringer, Abstract Heart, Wilderland, Endless Road and Restless Nomad. That Laurel Canyon influence fits well here, as Joni Mitchell was one of the central figures of that whole scene.

The tribute itself wasn't their original idea. It was conceived and curated by Lail Arad to mark Mitchell's 80th birthday, and it's been performed by other artists too, with Jesca Hoop and Arad herself giving their own intimate interpretations. Zervas & Pepper are the ones bringing it to Norwich as part of the tour.

So, the whole of Blue plus a selection of Mitchell's best from 1968 to 1976. The show is at Epic Studios, 112-114 Magdalen St, Norwich NR3 1JD, on Thursday 29 October, starting at 7:00 PM.
