Craft market with collections from local artists and designers filling The Forum with home-grown creativity for the festive season.
UNIK Design Christmas takes over The Forum on Saturday 12 December, from 9.30am to 5.30pm. It's a craft market that brings together collections from local artists and designers, filling the space with home-grown creativity for the festive season.
The whole point is the local angle. Instead of the usual high-street gift sets, you'll find work from artists and designers based right here in the region, so the things on the tables are made by people you might actually run into around the city. It's a craft market in the truest sense: a gathering of individual makers rather than a curated shop window. If you're looking for something that doesn't come off a conveyor belt, this is where you'll find it.
Because it's a market, it's as much about the people as the things they're selling. You'll find the makers themselves behind the stalls, so you can hear how a piece came together or what went into it. It's a good way to see what's being made in the city's studios and workshops, and to pick up something directly from the person who made it.
