Transvision Vamp, with original members Wendy James and Dave Parsons, play Epic Studios in Norwich on their first UK tour since 1991.
Transvision Vamp play Epic Studios on Saturday 24 October, their first UK date since 1991. It's part of a 16-date tour that kicks off in Newcastle on 6 October and takes them through London, Belfast and Dublin, following sold-out runs in Australia and New Zealand and shows in Portugal and Spain. Wendy James describes the set as "fresh, redux and powerful."
On stage, James is back on vocals with original member Dave Parsons on bass, joined by Alex Ward, Pip Stakem, Matt Millership and James Sclavunos. The band formed in West London in 1988 around James and Nick Christian Sayer, with Parsons and Tex Axile, and were signed to MCA Records by A&R legend Dave Ambrose. Their debut album, Pop Art (1988), gave us 'I Want Your Love', 'Tell That Girl To Shut Up' and 'Revolution Baby'. The second, Velveteen, brought the number-one hit 'Baby I Don't Care', and their third and final album, Little Magnets Versus The Bubble Of Babble (1991), became their biggest US release.
There's a bit of a story to the early nineties, too. Kurt Cobain famously attended many of their 1991 US shows, wearing TVV t-shirts and declaring himself a fan, while Wendy James became an international household name, photographed by David Bailey, Jurgen Teller and i-D. This is the first time they've toured the UK since then.
