Afternoon of singer-songwriter music with Tiny Vipers, Chantal Acda and astriDrift at The Holloway, an 18+ event.
Tiny Vipers are playing The Holloway on Sunday 18 October, with Chantal Acda and astriDrift on the bill. It's an afternoon show, starting at 14:00, and the whole thing is 18+.
Tiny Vipers is the US singer-songwriter who signed with Sub Pop in the mid-2000s. Her debut, Hands Across the Void, came out in 2007 and was noted for its haunting simplicity and stark, melancholic atmosphere. The New York Times highlighted its meditative quality and compared her sparse arrangements to Vashti Bunyan and early Cat Power. The follow-up, Life on Earth, was released on 7 July 2009, and Luckyhorse Industries put it out as a limited-edition 180-gram double vinyl on 16 November 2009 with the bonus track 'Audrey's Well'. Pitchfork called it a 'bleak but beautiful' work, and tracks like 'Dreamer' drew comparisons to Nico and Leonard Cohen. 'Tiger Mountain' is listed as her top track.
