Hey Colossus return to The Holloway for their first show in Norwich in more than twenty years, with Savak and The Breedling.
Hey Colossus are back at The Holloway on Thursday 29 October, their first Norwich show in more than twenty years. They're the main feature of the night, with Savak and The Breedling on the bill as well.
It's a long gap since they last played the city, and the history behind them runs back a fair way. They formed in Southfucking London with the initial aim 'Fudge Tunnel V. Can', and played their first gig at the Buffalo Bar on Highbury Corner in September 2003 with Trencher. Their debut album, HATES YOU, followed in January 2004 as a 12" only. A second album, II, came in 2005 on Shifty Records, then a collaboration 12" with Southend's Woe under the name Woe Colossus on State Of Distress, and a third, Project:Death, a year later. Album four, Happy Birthday, was recorded through 2007 at The Dropout in Camberwell.
They're a six-piece and have shared stages with Boris, Oneida, Comets On Fire and Sun Ra Arkestra, toured Spain in 2007 and played the zxzw fest in the Netherlands. Their sound collides noise rock, post-punk, psych, krautrock and garage rock, and they've been compared to Unsane, Neu!, Circle, Corrupted, Eyehategod and Fudge Tunnel. If you're familiar with any of those, you've got a good handle on where they sit.
