Free open mic night at The Brickmakers with Pete Turrell hosting the Live n Unsigned showcase of local talent.
The Brickmakers is hosting an Open Mic Night on Thursday 5 November, with the PA and mics provided on the night. It's a straightforward setup: you bring your own instrument, plug in, and play. If you've been working on something at home and want to get it in front of a room, this is the kind of night that makes that easy.
For those who haven't spent much time there, The Brickmakers is one of Norwich's most established venues, and it runs on three stages. The main room mostly books local covers bands and usually lets people in free. B2 is the grassroots room, which holds around 200 standing; it was set up in 2003 by musicians Pam South, Emma Rose and Charley South, and has since become a hub for up-and-coming acts from across the country. It leans towards metal and rock but takes in pop, punk and folk too, with a PA system and an in-house sound engineer. There's also an outside stage used during the summer.
Beyond the open mic, the pub runs the 'Live n Unsigned' showcase of local talent hosted by Pete Turrell, alongside Norfolk Blues Society sessions, tribute nights and music quizzes. It's a venue that keeps a steady rotation of local music going throughout the year, so the open mic sits right in the middle of that.
