Free afternoon of Northern soul played by Soul Bags at The Brickmakers in Norwich.
Soul Bags are playing The Brickmakers on Sunday 15 November, and it's an afternoon session rather than a night one. They're on from 15:00 to 18:00, so you'll be out by tea time.
What they're playing is Northern Soul, and the whole afternoon is billed as Northern Soul all afternoon. If you're not familiar, that's the fast, dancey side of 60s soul that never quite hit the charts in its time but found a second life in the clubs of the North. It's the kind of thing that's built for a dancefloor, and since it runs for three hours, there's plenty of room to settle in.
The Brickmakers is one of Norwich's most iconic venues, and it's a bit of a three-in-one. The main stage is where you'll find this session, and it mostly hosts local covers bands, usually with free entry. Then there's the B2 venue, a grassroots space for up-and-coming acts across metal, rock, pop, punk and folk. And in the summer, they bring out an outside stage. It's a proper multi-room spot, and this session takes over the main stage for the afternoon.
