Relaxed, sensory storytelling sessions for families with children who have special educational needs and disabilities, led by Natalya Martin.
Natalya Martin is running sensory storytelling sessions at The Forum on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 October, as part of the Norwich Book Festival. There are two sessions each day: an early years one for ages 3-5 from 11am to 11.45am, and a children's session for ages 6-11 from 2.15pm to 3pm. Both run in The Gallery, inside the main building on Millennium Plain.
These are relaxed, sensory storytelling experiences for families with children who have special educational needs, and they're accessible for non-verbal children too. The focus is on the sensory rather than the spoken word, so it's as much about what you feel and hear as what you're told. Each child needs to come with one or two accompanying adults, who don't need to book separately.
Natalya Martin leads them, and she's a sensory practitioner, sensory artist, theatre maker and facilitator. She describes her work as centred on the sensory and rooted in community, co-creation, wellbeing and play, with a particular focus on disabled young people who face the most barriers to access. She's worked with Oily Cart, Sense, Frozen Light, Unicorn, Barbican, Discover Children's Story Centre, Young V&A and Norwich Theatre, so this sits right in her wheelhouse.

Booking is essential, but the sessions are free. With two dates and two age groups to choose from, there's a slot that should fit your family's morning or afternoon.
