Free open mic night hosted by Peter Turrell at The Brickmakers, the iconic Norwich venue with three stages.
Peter Turrell hosts an open mic night at The Brickmakers on Thursday 28 January, from 8.10pm to 10.50pm. It's free entry, so you can just turn up and listen, or sign up and play yourself.
If you're not familiar with the venue, The Brickmakers is one of Norwich's most iconic spots, and it's a big one. It runs three stages: the main stage, which mostly hosts local covers bands and is usually free entry; the B2 venue, a grassroots space for up-and-coming acts from across the country, leaning towards metal and rock but also taking in pop, punk and folk; and an outside stage used during the summer. Its programme covers the full gamut of live music, from full gigs and tribute acts to open mic nights and music quizzes, so this fits right in with the usual mix.
An open mic is exactly what it sounds like: the stage is open to whoever wants to play, with Peter Turrell hosting the night. It's as much about the people who turn up to perform as it is about the audience, and since it's free entry, it's an easy one to drop into. Whether you've got a few songs you've been working on or you just fancy a night of live music without spending anything, it's a straightforward way to spend a Thursday evening.
